While virtual reality has typically been associated with the gaming world, it is seeing more and more practical applications. Due to recent technological advances and increased affordability, consumers are seeing improvements in their everyday health (NPR.org, 22 October 2015).

How you may ask? Paralyzed patients can now engage in activities such as surfing and aging veterans can experience war memorials that would have previously required an impossible journey. VR is even being utilized by therapists to treat anxiety disorders and pain management in a safe controlled setting. VR is still a relatively young technology.
